A social network for those interested in connecting with their Taiwanese cultural heritage, or interested in the culture and languages of Taiwan.

We often meet at different restaurants around the San Francisco Bay Area. Come chat with friends, extend your social network, eat delicious food, talk about American and Taiwanese culture, practice Mandarin, Taiwanese, and other languages commonly spoken in Taiwan... We usually order family style (a good way to sample more dishes) and split the tab evenly. The group is a mix of gender and age (usually in the 20 to 30 something range).

Though many of the members are of Taiwanese descent, the events are open to everyone who is interested in Taiwanese culture and friends of the Taiwanese community.

Add yourself to the TaiwaneseFriends GoogleGroup to receive event announcements and other notices.

If you want to help out and meet new friends, consider co-hosting a Taiwanese Friends event.

Event Planning

The event venues are based on input from our members, and you are welcome to send restaurant suggestions and time preferences for future meetings via the evite poll or email the Event Organizer.

Guest Speaker Series

Our guest speaker series will be a short talk in English/Mandarin/Taiwanese about a Taiwanese cultural theme on special occasions. This is followed by a question and answer session. We are looking for guest speakers for these lunch events, so if you are interested in speaking on a topic or know of an interesting speaker please contact us.

Upcoming Events

Nov 4 Boony Doon wine tasting trip (Sun) (evite)

We are meeting at Bonny Doon Vineyard for a picnic, wine tasting and hike. They have a very nice tasting room in the Santa Cruz mountains, with a very diversified portfolio of interesting wines. They have this excellent dessert wine served in a chocolate cup from Belgium that is to die for. For nondrinkers, there will be plenty to do, pack your own picnic basket, bring your own food and more to share. In back of the tasting room, there is an intimate picnic area with quiet creekside setting, right in the middle of awe-inspiring redwood forest, close to trails. We'll be meet up with a couple of Taiwanese groups as well.

If you are looking for other Taiwanese events, check out Taiwanese Happenings.
